We are selling this from my grandfather's estate. He loved machining, and we will be listing several items along with this. I know very little about this, but it is on great shape and has 3 extra plates included. I pulled the below descriptions from the internet and I believe they outline the tool to the best of my knowledge. If you have any specific questions, please let me know and I will do myu best to answer. The Vertex BS1 dividing head comprises of head stock, tail stock, set 3 dividing plates and chuck back plate. The spindle noses are threaded for a chuck. Both the phosphor bronze worm and the spindle are hardened and ground. The head can divide in any angle by the direct, indirect or differential methods. Ratio between the work and the worm gear is 40:1. A 24 hole plate is also fitted for quick indexing of simple numbers. The spindle is rigidly held in a taper roller bearing and the swivel head can be locked at any angle from -10-90?. Supplied complete with test certificate Center height is 128 mm. Description Manufactured in Taiwan The Vertex Dividing Head is a tool that is used to divide a circle into equal spacers. The most common use is in the accurate manufacture of splines, gears and key-ways that are required to be at a specific angle to each other. The Vertex Semi Universal Dividing Head can be tilted through a full 90 degrees from horizontal to vertical making it a must when manufacturing bevel gears or key-ways in tapers.
