Vibratome 8000 Sliding Microtome w/ Cryostage Freezer histology & neuroscience Vibrotome Series 8000 with Bright Cryostage Freezer We have tested this and it is working great, we did not have any tissue we were willing to cut, but we could see the razor vibration and adjust it...The freezer cools down quickly too. A vibratome is an instrument that is similar to a microtome but uses a vibrating razor blade to cut through tissue. Advantages of Vibratome Sectioning No need to dehydrate tissues prior to embedding, thus decreased loss of cell constituents No messy paraffin embedding No need to deparaffinise and rehydrate sections prior to immunostaining No high temperatures or harsh chemical treatments that may lead to antigen instability No special microtome blades required Less chance of artifacts caused by parrafin embedding or freezing Increased tissue autofluoresecence due to paraffin embedding being avoided Less wait period from tissue sampling to time of immunolabelling Vibrotome Series 8000 Overview Easy-to-use base sledge retracting microtome complete with standard vice Sturdy cast iron construction 60 µm retraction on the return stroke prevents possible specimen damage Angled and slewable knife holder for greater versatility Accepts a range of knives and disposable blades A wide range of quick release holders available Safety features include knife guards and low positioned operating handle Orientation available, using a ± 8 degree tilt adapter Range of stages available The Series 8000 is designed to fully meet the needs of the routine histology and neuroscience laboratory. It also meets the more demanding requirements of a specialized unit where versatility and a wide range of accessories guarantees that the Series 8000 will become the first choice of the professional base sliding microtome user. The Vibratome 8000 is well suited to cutting a wide range of materials, including bone, plastics, resins and wood, as well as large area soft tissues. It is the first unit to incorporate retraction on the return stroke. This feature helps to avoid possible damage to specimens. The Series 8000 has a wide range of stages available in a host of sizes. The knife support pillars may be reversed to provide greater clearance for large blocks. In their normal position, blocks up to 110 mm wide may be accommodated and, when reversed, the block width may be increased to 170 mm.Substantial knife clamps provide considerable knife rigidity with the dual facility of both angle tilt and slew. Spacers are available to raise the height of the knife. If required, a single-side,double clamp knife holder is available as an option. The Vibratome 8000 is equipped with full width knife guards. These guards provide increased protection to the operator over the entire knife length, not just at the ends. Cast in mechanite and precision machined, the Series 8000 base is finished with a durable solvent and detergent-resistant coating. The sledge is inserted with PTFE to provide an extremely low friction contact. Specimen advance and retraction is achieved by simply pushing and pulling the sledge forward and back using the operating handle. The unique design of the Series 8000 handle means the mere action of pushing and pulling automatically advanced and retracts the specimen. The degree of advance can be set in the range of 0 – 40 um in 1 um increments. For some sectioning work, it is necessary to cool a specimen below room temperature. The Vibratome solid state freezer and the Vibratome UltraPro cryostage can be used in conjunction with the Series 8000. The freezer will permit specimen cooling from ambient to -25C or lower, depending on conditions. The equipment consists of a cooling stage and a control unit and turns the microtome into a freezing microtome. Easy to defrost, the solid state freezer is available with two separate stage sizes and can be used in other applications around the laboratory where small area freezing is required. About Us: PAR inc (Science-Specialists on ebay) has been serving the biotech and pharmaceutical industry for over 20 years, designing and constructing clean rooms. From time-to-time we would take excellent condition lab equipment as payment for services and sometime we take equipment that we needed to refurbish. We still do this today, we get equipment directly from our customers, the end users. We never buy from auction houses, or lots of equipment sight-unseen; we KNOW every piece of equipment we sell and we give you the best prices.
