I will likely deliver to your area for $1 per mile one way. I am selling a relic from the past: Vintage Monopod Hyperbaric shell used for testing. This may be the last one of its kind. This is a Vickers Clamshell Hyperbaric Chamber. It is a part of history. Some will claim to know the significance, and many will be wrong. The Vickers clamshell is the type/style/design that Dr Richard Neubauer is said to have done much of his early work. This is potentially the last one remaining from his early imports of 1940's European technology. This unit is said to have belonged to Dr Edward Teller (the Father of the Hydrogen Bomb). Records indicate that Dr Richard Neubauer had this unit shipped to Dr. Edward Teller to help him in his last days. The historical authenticity and use by Dr Teller is indicated in the photos presented and papers that could/should follow this unit. (Unit is presently in storage. Owner anticipates locating records when emptying storage, but this will not take place until unit is sold.) Many will know of the 2009 (??) era explosion said to have occurred at Neubauer's Florida facility. Following the explosion this unit which was housed at a warehouse for the certifying group was used in the forensic testing to see if the explosion could be replicated. It could not be repeated. Ultimately the industry was allowed to return to work BECAUSE of this unit, because it was used to prove that the industry was safe, but that one unit had an inherent problem. That unit's inherent problem was 70 year old wiring with 220 volt power running through an aluminum hull with 100% oxygen in use. Imagine that!?? Seems simple in hindsight........... The power unit (old school, 220-240volt and power lift) have been removed. Very likely this is/was the electrical system (Not needed) that caused the arc/spark that lead to the disaster. Meanwhile, these have been in service for 70 plus years without any loss. That is success, not failure. This is a chamber only. No power devices of any nature included. No service items such as compressor(s) or oxygen delivery systems are included. All paperwork received with the unit will be conveyed when located. (Unit is in storage). The present owner of this equipment used this and other equipment to develop an oxygen/oxygen remediation approach to help many. A signed copy of that book will be conveyed with chamber. Delivery is possible for a fee. Anticipate it to cost 50 cents per mile plus a $50 handling fee at each end. Understand that this is a large, cumbersome unit. Eventhough it is on wheels and set-up for use on a hospital (level, smooth) floor, it is somewhat awkward to lift and move. Rolling the unit on a level floor is relatively easy. Weight of the unit is estimated at 1200 - 1600 pounds. Often movement of the unit is best done by using a "rollback" type wrecker/tow truck to lift and lower the unit at a minimum. This could cost an additional $60-80 at each end of delivery depending of towing outfit. Owner can show simply how to use them for lift and lower of unit. (In the past a "rollback" has been used to lift it to the normal height of the truck, then transferred to a regular "flat bed" truck and then removed in the reverse fashion at destination. See my other listings. Due to issues of health these will be sold promptly with pickup/delivery options favored that are early and efficient. Owner may consider delivery to expedite purchase/decisions. Delivery coordinated with other sales are possible. This is not a fully functional system. It is a fully sealed system requiring an air handling system to work. It is a part of a system. Use of this design in commercial applications is said to be restricted. The sale of this unit is to transfer ownership. It is not recommended for use commercially. As this unit sits it is/was said to have been insured at one time for one million dollars. This is/was due to the limited nature and the chain of ownership. It is believed to be the last of its kind. I would not know how to confirm this to be true or false. At present it is in storage in a place we may need to clear for other uses. We took possession of this unit to clear some debt said to have occurred through an inheritance if memory serves correctly.
