We have for sale a Vintage 1905 Antique Chandler & Price 8 X 12 Inch Letter Press / Printing Press that came out of an old Printing Shop in Palisades, Colorado!  Based on the serial number, 43259,  and the maker's manufacturing chart this example was made in 1905 and is a 8 X 12 inch model, which is less common than a 10 x 15 . The size is based on the inside measurement of the chase which is a little smaller than the type bed or the platen.  The C&P printing press is in solid working condition with average wear for a letter press of this vintage.  There's no motor on this press. The gentleman I bought it from originally purchased it from the closed down printer in Palisades, Colorado and planned over the years to set it up and do his own printing.  He had a machinist fabricate a new spindle mechanism out of aluminum to hold the large fly wheel (see picture). The wheel fits perfectly on the new spindle and is firmly held in place! The printer is dusty and could use some cleaning. The printing plate surfaces do need a very good cleaning and have some very slight spots.  The two mounting brackets that would hold the wood shelf where you stack your paper supply have been partially broken off at the ends, but it still looks like a shelf could be mounted on what remains of the two brackets (see pictures for details). The three rubber rollers are in stellar shape - soft and pliable and ready for use.  This is a very heavy item and thus needs to be picked up from our store.  The approximate dimensions are: 46" tall, 48" deep and 32" wide. The Buyer can either pick up the item at my store (local pickup) or arrange a freight carrier of their choice to handle the packing and pickup of the printer's press.  All freight costs must be paid by the Buyer.  Feel free to contact me to discuss.
