Vintage 1921 Working Cast Iron Sewing Machine Motor Cord + Variable Speed Switch

US $130

This old motor, cord and variable speed switch was taken off a Singer Sewing Machine cabinet. Motor and sewing machine narrowly escaped being thrown in the garbage by a friend of mine. The sewing machine dated to 1921, as per the serial number. I believe the sewing machine may have started out as a treadle machine and possibly the motor was added. The motor is made of cast iron and is extremely heavy, 13+ pounds weighed with the variable speed switch. Switch looks like it might be designed to control with the knee. The cord has been repaired, spliced, etc. Certainly it needs replacement. However, when my electrician plugged it it, the motor ran well. It has an attachment to drive a belt. I am no motor expert but I imagine this motor could be used for other purpose. I do not know the maker of the motor, but I'm guessing it is USA made.  Unfortunately, the metal plate used for the manufacturer's name and specs has been removed. Last picture will show the screws where the plate used to be. There is a number 105, and also a small mark which I can't read; please see Picture #7. Might be a clue to manufacturer's identity. Low starting bid! BIDDERS / BUYERS PLEASE NOTE: Ebay no longer allows charging for shipping insurance. Included in your shipping charge is my handling charge, which includes packing materials, shipping insurance, and delivery confirmation. This may make your shipping charge seem high, but it is as minimal as I can afford to make it. I very often will custom-cut a box to save buyers shipping charges due to unnecessarily large boxes.  My handling charge will vary from item to item depending on value and shipping risk. Once I mail my items from the Post Office, if I believe you were overcharged, I will partially refund. Please contact me if you have any questions concerning this. ABOUT FEEDBACK: As a result of frequently not receiving FB from my buyers, I have made it my policy not to leave feedback until feedback is received. If you have questions or concerns about your purchase, please contact me. I make it my policy to insure a buyer’s satisfaction in every circumstance. PLEASE NOTE: I do and always have adhered to Ebay's Fair Shipping Practices. I carefully calculate the weight of my items and charge as close to actual shipping as possible. Padded shipping charges are a pet peeve of mine and I do not do that to my buyers. However, in my shipping charges, I do allow for generous packing materials and in some cases double-boxing, to assure safe transit. I will always combine shipping when more than one of my items is purchased by the same bidder. I offer economical First Class or Media Mail whenever possible. On the larger items, I find Priority Mail to be the fastest and most reliable method in the U.S.; however, sometimes Parcel Post can be less expensive and is always available upon request. International Bidders, please Email for shipping charges before bidding.     THANKS FOR STOPPING BY MY AUCTION!
