This auction is for a vintage 1970's United California Bank (UCB) ball point pen and used United California Bank / Master Charge credit card payment envelope. United California Bank began as California Bank in 1920, with the "United" added to the name in 1961. In 1981, it was renamed again to First Interstate Bank of California. Finally, in 1996, it was acquired by Wells Fargo Bank, National Association. This pen consists of a metal ink cartridge which writes in blue ink. The dark blue bottom portion has imprinted on it the UCB logo. The upper silver portion has a pocket clip with the letters "UCB" stamped vertically into it. This pen is in mint condition. The payment envelope has the United California Bank - Beverly Hills office address pre-printed on the front. In addition, the bottom left corner of each envelope has the "Master Charge" logo printed on it. Master Charge was founded in 1966. In 1979, it was renamed MasterCard and has operated as such to this day. The envelope has a return address from Torrance and is postmarked, Inglewood, California, and dated, May 17, 1970. The cancelled 1970 6-cent U.S. stamp is "African Elephant Herd". This envelope is in very good condition, with slight hairline creases on the left and at the top.
