For your consideration is a good-looking, functioning vintage Bookbinders combination lying and finishing press with cast iron and steel opening and closing mechanism operated by a cast iron wheel  Also included in this offering is press’s original tub (table) and corresponding plough and sewing frame. The lying/finishing press, tub and plough have labels/stampings that identify them as products of “Rougier et Ple, Paris” at a time when their telephone number was Arch 13.16.  The press and tub have metal tags.  The knife and knife holder are stamped, “Rougier et Ple”.  The sewing frame is unmarked but appears to be from the same type wood and of the same vintage. The press frame fits well within the tub and one side of the press serves as a lying press and the other as a finishing press.  The wheel and gear work well in opening and closing the press.  The removable combination press measures 15” x 26 1/2” x 3 1/2” thick and opens to a maximum of 4 1/4”.  And, when fully opened, the wheel extends 8” beyond the press. The tub measures 28 1/2” x 24 7/8” x 18” with a 7” x 24 7/8” fold up extension (there are 2 rotating wood arms to support the extension).  The tub has a bottom open storage that measures 14 3/4” x 22 7/8”. The plough measures 16” x 7 1/2” x 4 1/2”. The sewing frame overall dimensions are 24” x 22 1/4” x 9” with 17 1/4” between the 2 spindles.  There is a 14 1/2” opening in the base of the sewing frame. A good-looking, well-made Bookbinders tool.  All is in good condition but, could benefit from some cleaning after spending too long a time in storage. We would prefer a pick-up but, will work with anyone that would like the item shipped. The approximate weights are: Press 30 Lbs. Tub 27 Lbs. Plough       3 Lbs. Sewing Frame   9 Lbs. The Shipping weight with packaging would be somewhat more and the items would probably need to be packed in 2 or 3 boxes. Please eMail us if there are any questions.
