UP FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION IS: VINTAGE CATHOLIC LEGION OF MARY RELIGIOUS STATUE VTG LEGIO MARIAE PURCHASED AT AN ESTATE SALE Rare Vintage Legion of Mary Icon. This rare Vexillum Legionis is surmounted by a Dove, the emblem of the Holy Spirit, and has red guilloche enamel. Just under the Dove is a cross-bar with the inscription "Legio Mariae" (Legion of Mary), which is very ornate with a rose and a lily. Beneath the cross-bar is an oval frame bearing the representation of the Immaculate Conception (Miraculous Medal) with blue enamel. Around the oval is "O Maria, Sine Labe Concepta, Pro Nobis Ad Te Recurrentibus Ora" with the date "1830" on the bottom. The whole design conveys the idea that the world is to be conquered by the Holy Spirit acting through Mary and her children. The icon measures 13.5" tall. . Please see photo for details.
