This is a very old style ammeter which has been in my family for over 70 years, and with my father probably another 20 years or more.      It was made by "Hoyt Meter", as printed on the faceplate. Also there is a "Valley electric" logo (maybe faceplate mfr.?).    The scale is 0 - 8 amperes, with a red line at 6 amps. Test of meter shows it works AOk, matching quite well another meter at about 3 amps for a particular circuit.    Cosmetically, the face has some very light spots, some of which are apparently on the inside of the glass.  The case has many minor spots (some may be rust?)...I only did some very light cleaning.    On the periphery of the case, near the bottom, is an unusual "adjust zero" bar of metal, secured by two small screws (see last photo).    The two brass-screw type terminals on the back project through a 2-1/2" diameter piece of plastic, probably Bakelite, which stands off from the metal case.    The shape of the case, being wider at the back, seems to imply a surface mount, rather than flush mounting, although there's no obvious method for mounting.    Dimensions: OD at front 2-1/2", OD of faceplate 2-1/8", OD at rear 3-1/8", depth of case 1-5/8", terminal screws project approx. 1",
