Vintage Ernst Leitz Wetzlar Sledge Microtome Excellent Condition. The microtome is an instrument used in medical & biological laboratories and hospitals for histo-pathological examinations that require precise slicing and sectioning. The devices are used for cutting very thin and precise slices to be examined under the microscope.  According with Bracegirdle's book (A history of micro-technique) this sledge microtome is based on the Korting   microtome design from 1881 that appeared in a Carl Zeiss catalog. This Leitz specific model was manufactured   around the Great War (WWI) period Heavy Duty weighing over 18 pounds.
