This is a Hamilton Auto Shift Drafting Table, model unknown; looks to be post-WW2. IDEAL for architects, ship-builders, draftsmen of every discipline!   The drafting table measures 72" wide, by 40" deep.  There is a full-length wooden pencil tray at bottom, and a roll-up length of heavy reinforced cloth cover to protect unfinished work from exposure. There is a foot-operated bar at lower left of base for adjusting height; and a smaller hand-operated lever on the right to control the angle. The desk unit itself measures 55" wide, by 43" deep, by 32" high. There is a full-width shallow drawer for storage, a drawer for drafting supplies, and a file drawer. The top is solid wood; it retracts from behind the drafting table, perhaps to create an even larger flat working surface. This table is VERY sturdy and stabile!
