Up for sale is a Vintage MTI Instruments Fotonic Sensor Model KD-38 with 120V for Parts and Repair. We could not test this item so it may or may not function correctly. This particular unit used to be US Navy property. Parts of the rubber are worn off on the probe cord. There are stains, scuffs, residue, and wear due to age and use but overall the sensor is in decent physical condition. This item has been wiped down but will need further cleaning. It does not come with a power cord. We have put it up at auction based on its potential collectors value. The Fotonic Sensor is a non-contact instrument which uses the fiber optics lever principle to perform displacement, vibration and surface-condition measurements. The Fotonic Sensor transmits a beam of light through a flexible fiber-optic probe, receives light reflected from a target surface, and converts this light into an electrical signal proportional to the distance between the probe tip and the target being measured. The output signal voltage from the fiber optic sensor is then used to determine position, displacement, vibration amplitude, frequency and waveshape of a target surface.
