This is a vintage Adam Rouilly retinoscope eye model. The box behind the eye would hold slides that depict different diseases. Students would look through the eye with an ophthalmoscope and go through the slides as if they were viewing the retinas of real patients. These are no longer made and were replaced by high tech digital eye models. The slides are missing from the model but perhaps can still be purchased online somewhere. The model was made in Great Britain and makes a beautiful nostalgic display. It is made of a heavy rubber like material. He is ten and a half inches tall and six and a half inches wide. He weighs 1 pound and 5 ounces. From a nonsmoking no pet home.
