For sale is a Vintage Peabody Ryan Model D-30 in-transit temperature strip chart recorder as shown in the photos. Temperature range is -20° to 100°F. Serial number 19535. Includes a box of chart paper rolls with seven rolls left in the box. I am selling this for a friend who told me that he got in the '70's and ran it on a couple desert trips in the '80's - he says he just wound it up and let it record temperature in his VW bus for the whole trip. This is a mechanical spring-wound unit and does not require electrical power to operate. If you are interested in how this unit works, the patent can be found here. This in-transit temperature strip chart recorder has many applications for shipment temperature verification required for NIST compliance. It generates a permanent paper chart print-out of the temperature conditions inside a cargo hold that occurs while goods are in-transit. Once the goods reach their destination, the recorder is removed and the chart is extracted from the unit. Instructions for use are printed on front of unit (use zoom to read).
