My understanding is that this needs a 12v AC feed to operate properly, meaning you need a transformer to run it. If you want to use it and don't understand that, then don't buy it. I tried it on the car battery, and the ringer clunked once. I think that means it works, but I listed it as is for parts not working because the shipping is too much for me to guarantee that it works. If you need a guarantee that it works, then don't buy it.
