You are bidding on a Vintage 15" Quality Precision Level in a Wooden Box. The top exterior of the box reads Starrett Athol, Mass. U.S.A. The inside lid has two paper labels. One label reads, in part, STARRETT MASTER PRECISION LEVEL NO. 199 - LENGTH 15 INCHES. The other label is a Caution Label. I attempted to give you a close up picture to view its content (8th photo). The level itself appears to be a well made instrument. It weighs 5 pounds 10.4 ounces. This level is used but, in my opinion, it appears to have been over-all well taken care of. The top of this level reads THE L.S. STARRETT CO. ATHOL MASS. U.S.A. - 1 DIVISION = .0005 IN / 1 FOOT. The screw tops/heads are not shiny new. Both bubble levels appear to work. This is a precision level and as you can see by the photos, my concrete basement floor is not exactly level. I did not test the accuracy of this level (In all honesty I am not sure how to) but it is my understanding (after reading the paper label) this level has the capabilities to be adjusted into 100% accuracy. The bottom base of this level (approx. 1 5/8" by 15") shows usage but it has a slick smooth feel when you run your fingers down and/or over it. The wood box has dovetail construction. It is not in mint condition... it shows its age. It has scratches, dings and finish wear. The bottom is nailed on. There is a little wood piece missing from one inside bottom edge. This wood piece would help to secure the level from sliding back and forth when it is placed inside of the box. This appears it would be an easy fix by cutting a small piece of wood and wedging it into the void, but I will leave that project to the new owner. I do not know how old this precision hand tool actually is but I believe it has some years on it. This is a Vintage Used Tool... like you and me, it can and it will show wear and tear from being used over the years! I am selling this tool in used, as I found it condition. I did not attempt to clean it so it should benefit from a good cleaning. I uploaded 12 pictures for you to "ZOOM". Pictures are an integral part of my description.
