WE ARE RETIRED NOW AND REDUCING THE NUMBER OF THINGS IN MY GARAGE. THIS IS AN ELECTRIC MOTOR THAT CAN BE USED FOR A VARIETY TOOLS. I GOT IT FROM ONE OF MY NEIGHBORS WHEN HE WAS MOVING. I NEVER GOT TO USE IT. IN MY RESEARCH I FOUND THAT SUNLIGHT ELECTRICAL MADE MOTORS AND PAINTED THE CENTER BAND ORANGE IN THE THIRTY'S.. AS YOU CAN SEE FROM THE PICTURES, THERE IS SOME ORANGE SHOWING ON THIS ONE. THIS TYPE OF ORANGE BAND WAS COMMON ON SUNLIGHT ELECTRIC MOTORS IN 1933-34. OBVIOUSLY THERE IS SOME DIRT OR A BAD CONNECTION INSIDE.  YESTERDAY I STARTED AND STOPPED THE MOTOR 20 TIMES AND IT WORK CORRECTLY.  TODAY, I WAS GOING TO TAKE PICTURES OF IT RUNNING AND IT WON'T RUN.  I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THE PROBLEM IS.  1/4 HORSEPOWER, 1725 RPM AND 4.7 AMPS AT 110 VOLTS. THE BOLT PATTERN IS 3  3/4 BY 5 INCHES. IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS OR WANT MORE PICTURES, PLEASE CONTACT ME. 10/1/14 I RECEIVED THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION FROM ANOTHER EBAYER. HE ASKED ME:  "Does it just hum or nothing at all?" I RESPONDED:   "I just tried it again and it just hums. The day before I listed it the motor ran.  The next day when I was about to list it, all it did was hum. I am not an electric motor expert so I can't offer any more information than that." HE COMMENTED:  "Sounds like the starting contacts or starting coil is in need of repair." I RESPONDED:  "Thanks for the information. Although I have no idea what to do about it. I am sure that someone can fix this motor and get good use from it." HE COMMENTED:  "You should be able to start it by hand. Just give it a twist when it's got power. Should run either direction." I THANKED HIM FOR THE INFORMATION AND TOLD HIM THAT I WOULD PUT HIS COMMENTS IN THE LISTING.
