VINTAGE L.C. SMITH CORONA TYPEWRITER Very Good Condition in Working Order! This classic typewriter was made in 1937 by the L.C. Smith Corona Company.  Super-Speeds operate with the individually ball-bearinged typebars that had been used in L.C. Smiths for almost half a century. This particular body style was little changed from the original created in 1904. These were often used as teaching typewriters because they were so heavy duty, small plastic blank discs could be placed over the letter on the keys so that students had to memorize where the different keys were. This vintage typewriter is like the one grandma used! A great piece for the collector or to display at your business. Some History on Smith Corona: The L.C. Smith & Bros. Typewriter Company was founded in Syracuse, N.Y. on January, 1st, 1903 by Lyman C. Smith and his brothers Hurlburt W., Wilbert L. and Monroe C., who resign from Smith Premier over the company's refusal to introduce a front stroke typewriter. The Smith brothers, along with former Smith Premier employee Carl Gabrielson introduce L.C. Smith No. 2 in 1904. \L.C. Smith & Bros. merges with Corona Typewriter Company in 1925 to become "L.C. Smith Bros. & Corona Typewriters, Inc." headquartered in Syracuse, N.Y.
