Sensitive, Accurate, Precision Millivolt Potentiometer / Galvanometer, Leeds & Northrup, Model 8686 Ultimate  Precision, Sensitivity, Accuracy, 0.005  --------   Also a neat Collectors Item   -  Interesting ' Conversation Piece ' Leeds and Northrup has long been one of the leaders in manufacture of precision devices for convenient accurate EMF ( Electronic ) or Temperature measurements from thermocouples,  especially with their famous Millivolt Potentiometers.  This device, a Model 8686 Millivolt Potentiometer is no exception.  Excellent for verifying and standardizing most electronics, test equipment, measuring devices, and precise / accurate measurement of critical voltages, either for calibration or design.   It is portable and runs on three large 1-1/2 V batteries built into two accessible panel in the rear, or an equivalent stable power supply.  Simple; no other power required.    This is also a very neat antique / conversation piece.  Measurement can be made directly from 0.005 mV to 1010.1 mV.  It also includes two long Thermocouples enclosed in hard ceramic insulators.  This one is similar to the one I used in Grad School long ago, in making extremely precise measurements of the output of newly developed, Hall Crystal device for   measurements of very slight changes in the  magnetic field of a mass spectrometer.   It comes in a tough, metal case with a heavy duty carrying handle and vibration damping footpads.  The controls include very fine adjustments for the Reference Junction, Battery, and Zero.  The controls are all large and easy to read with an extremely fine, large adjustable thumb wheel.  This is the final control with easy to read divisions every 0.005 mV with a total range from 0 to 11 mV. Further knobs can adust the range up to 1,010.1 mV.   The entire device is made using precision components without any dependence on standard power supplies, rectifiers, regulators, and amplifiers which all too often go out of calibration - or operation #1757 Leeds and Northrup has long been one of the leaders in manufacture of precision devices for convenient accurate EMF ( Electronic ) or Temperature measurements from thermocouples,  especially with their famous Millivolt Potentiometers.  This device, a Model 8686 Millivolt Potentiometer is no exception.  Excellent for verifying and standardizing most electronics, test equipment, measuring devices, and precise / accurate measurement of critical voltages, either for calibration or design.   It is portable and runs on three large 1-1/2 V batteries built into two accessible panel in the rear.  Simple; no other power required.    Measurement can be made directly from 0.005 mV to 1010.1 mV.  It also includes two long Thermocouples enclosed in hard ceramic insulators.  This one is similar to the one I used in Grad School long ago, in making extremely precise measurements of the output of a,  then newly developed, Hall Crystal device for   measurements of very slight changes in the  magnetic field for a mass spectrometer.
