This is an older style Vertical Twin air compressor pump manufactured by Campbell Hauseld. This one was sold under the Grainger brand name of Speedaire. Their model # 2Z630D. This is a model that was unique for Campbell in that they used a 3" Piston, offering a bit higher displacement than their more common 2 3/4" piston, used in current models. And also, requiring a bit more horsepower to turn. Back when honest horsepower numbers were used, I believe, this was the pump used in their 230 volt, 15 amp motor systems, 3 HP electric, 5 HP gas. The Campbell model numbers that this pump represents and replaces are: VT203002, VT232605, VT232705, VT272100, VT272200 I have honed the cylinder walls, replaced the rings, cleaned the head, replaced the reed valves, and wiped off the dirt from the exterior. The output shaft is chipped but it still held a flywheel satisfactorily. Output shaft is their standard 3/4". These cast iron, US made pumps will last forever, with just a little maintenance. Add a coat of paint if you want it to look like new....otherwise, show it's great character and history as is. Campbell was likely the last manufacturer to switch to foreign produced pumps, maybe Warren Buffet liked it that way....but alas, to survive, you've got to do, what you've got to do, to save the last remaining jobs for the company. The head design was meant for the two copper pipe constructed models. The larger 1/2" line to the tank, and the smaller 1/4" line to the pressure switch. The smaller 1/4" hole on the head can be plugged on models where the smaller line runs directly from the pressure switch to the check valve fitting atop the tank air inlet. Any standard 1/2" npt filter will work for inlet air or the current Campbell two bolt adapter style will work also.
