VWR 1217 Digital Oscillating Water Bath/Shaker   For sale- a VWR 1217 Digital Oscillating Water Bath/Shaker.  Looking online it is said to have a 4.2 gallon capacity, which sounds about right.  I filled it most of the way up as pictured and tested it to heat and shake and as far as I can tell the thing is ready to go into service tomorrow no questions asked.  I left it set on 100 oscillations a minute and 50 degrees C.  You can see the ripples in the water from the orbital motion applied.  What I found out about the heating is that it apparently is designed to not go over the set point, so as it heats up and approaches the desired temp the last degree takes forever.   So much so that I was concerned that perhaps it wouldn’t go over 50 (I had to go out for the evening and didn’t want to leave it running while I was gone).  So the next day I set it on 70 and came back later to find that the Over Temperature control had stopped it at 62.3, so that works just fine as well.  Good physical condition as pictured, comes with the stainless steel top and that’s it.   Otherwise untested, sold as is, and NO warranty is offered.  However, IF you pay the asking price and find it has a problem you cannot live with within 14 days of receipt you may return it.  Returns are ONLY allowed on Buy It Now Purchases.  Accepted Best Offers are strictly an as is sale, no returns allowed.  Return would be for a refund of the purchase price, not including shipping costs.   Just so that we are clear on that, this is an item that has not been thoroughly tested.  As such it may work fine or it may have problems, so any purchase entails a certain degree of risk.  If you Buy It Now your risk is limited to the shipping costs both ways.  If you submit an offer you do so knowing that you cannot return it.  In either case it is up to you to decide whether the risk level is acceptable to you, and if not you need to pass on this particular item.   Please check out my other listings for more interesting lab, test, and optical equipment.  Check back often!   Sold as is, as described, as pictured.  Potential buyers are asked to please make sure you have read the listing carefully, and understand what you are buying.  Ebay’s condition codes for used items, which I am now required to select from, might imply a degree of functionality that my limited time, knowledge, and facilities do not allow me to ascertain.  If the functional condition of the item is known it will be stated as such in the listing.  Unless a warranty is specifically offered returns are not accepted regardless of any implied functionality.   You are also encouraged to visit my “ME” page, where my terms, conditions, and philosophy of doing business are outlined.  I don’t think anything there is outside the bounds of normal e-commerce, but they are binding on the transaction.   Payment is expected within 7 days of the close of the sale and I need to hear from you within 3 days to confirm the transaction.  Because of the weight and/or bulk of the item I have chosen to let ebay’s shipping calculator figure out the cost based on your zip code.  Alternatively I would be happy to ship it charged to your Fedex account.  I will under NO circumstances ship it UPS, the people there don’t seem to be smart enough to handle a shipment charged to the recipients account, nor do they appear to be smart enough to correct their mistake after the fact.   With increasing frequency the ebay shipping calculator seems to be incapable of actually “calculating”, instead it prefers to tell you that the zip code you have entered is invalid.  Unless/Until they can fix it the only thing I can do is to plug my zip, your zip, the weight and dimensions in at fedex.com to arrive at a shipping cost for your particular shipment.  So if ebay isn’t providing a shipping cost automatically, you can always go to fedex.com and estimate it yourself.  It would be shipping from a fedex terminal in 22902.  The presumed box would be 30x20x20, 70 pounds.  I do not keep boxes like that on hand as a rule, so please allow a few days for me to find one and pack it up.  Please be patient.
