Ward Bennett Desginer chairs made by Brickel Associates A little history - Ward Bennet was an artist and designer. He traveled from Italy to Paris to New York during his training as a teenager. He has designed for residences in London, Paris, Veince, Rome and the US. In 1963 he collaborated with Brickel Associates and designed furniture and textiles. He is considered a prodigious designer. His work is featured in the Museum of Modern Art and in the Cooper-Hewitt Museum. George Brickel's manufacturing company was eventually purchased by the Herman Miller Company. These retro taupe chairs are American made in the late 1960's early 1970's. MCM - Mid Century Modern big size armchairs are made of sturdy cherry wood and rawhide suede (see tag on bottom of chair). They are 24" wide 24" deep and 33.5" high. Seat height is 20". The sloping arms are a beautiful accent. Very good condition with no rips or tears. There is one minor black spot about 1/2 inch on one of the chairs that I have not attempted to remove for fear of damaging the suede (shown in pic). The wood is in excellent shape, considering their age. They were always kept in a smoke free pet free home and are now in an office. Perfect for a connoisseur of fine art and furniture and expecially collectors who can appreciate the ever lasting style and dimension of these pieces.
