The sets are new but"old"--- there is no date of manufacture on the box but the boxes are obviously old due to significant box scuffing. The two heads in the set are still sealed in the original packaging. This is a 2.5V set and is powered exclusively with household "D" batteries. This set is ideal for mission/humanitarian missions where a reliable power source is not readily available. Due to the age of these new sets we have replaced the factory-supplied "heavy duty" batteries with premium DuraCell "D" batteries that expire in 2023. In order to replace the batteries (and inspect the components) we were required to open each set prior to listing/shipping. Everything in this set is old but new/never used. List price on this set is over $856.72. The set was not available on Amazon at this writing-- the Google price ranged from $689 to $774 (when shipping is included). This set has been discontinued by Welch Allyn and is increasingly difficult to locate/obtain.
