As an added courtesy to the buyer, we have also preconditioned the new, generic #72300 battery to ensure long-term performance of the handle. The list price on a new set is over $720. Preconditioning consists of the following: 1) We charge the battery for 16 hours and then totally discharge the battery (discharge takes over an hour), 2) We charge the battery a second time for 16 hours and totally discharge the battery again, and finally 3) We charge the battery for 16 hours a third time and then insert the battery into the handle for future use. Preconditioning enables the user to obtain the maximum charge life from a nickel-cadmium battery.
