This set contains a new Welch Allyn preconditioned battery #72300 with a 2017 expiration date. List price on this set is over $760. The sole difference between the two sets is the 97200-MC1 contains the Welch Allyn insufflator bulb #23804 (which is used to insufflate the MacroView otoscope contained in the set). The insufflator costs about $8 and is often required by teaching facilities. As an added courtesy to the buyer, we have "pre-conditioned" the new battery in this set to ensure optimum performance. Preconditioning consists of charging the new battery for 16 hours and then completely discharging the battery (about an hour minimum); charging the battery a second time for 16 hours and totally discharging for a second time, and charging the battery a third time for 16 hours.
