As an added courtesy we have pre-conditioned the nickel-cadmium battery in this set for maximum performance. The retinoscope and ophthalmoscope are still in their sealed pouches (your assurance that they are genuinely new). This is a premium ophthalmic diagnostic set from Welch Allyn that features the convertible ni-cad handle, Streak Retinoscope, and the Coaxial Ophthalmoscope. Pre-conditioning of the battery consists of the following steps: 1) Charge the battery for 16 hours and then totally discharge the battery (takes about 90 minutes), 2) Charge the battery for 16 hours a second time and then totally discharge the battery again, and 3) Charge the battery a third time for 16 hours. After the third charge, the battery is inserted into the handle and the set is listed for sale.
