I have been a welder for a number of years and used all types of helmets from conventional to the new light activated models, none of them compare to the Accu-Strike chin operated helmet! This is a "Hands Free" welding helmet that is dark before the arc NOT AFTER! The chin strap operates the visor. Lower the jaw slightly and open the visor effortlessly! The amount of jaw movement controls the amount of opening. Release chin pressure and the visor closes in place. Visor can also be locked open for grinding or extended viewing. A slight (adjustable) nod of the head closes the visor from the locked open position. Please note:There is no nod required unless you lock it in the open position. Other than a few parts, it is still the original hood. IT'S TOUGH! It blew off my head one day while on a ladder 15 ft. in the air. I call it my 3rd hand, especially when heliarcing small stainless parts using a filler rod. By opening your jaw a person can locate your weld area without moving. By the way a person can chew gum yet tool. It also increases productivity, especially on spotting expanded metal, welding sheets, square tube and pipe. By just lowering your jaw, a person can locate and weld twice as fast as lifting up your hood and locating. "Accu-Strike" also improves out of position welding and getting into tight spots - like under trucks. I have 5 welders working for me and until I got them their own hoods I had to look to see who was using mine. As we are a heavy industrial job shop (our customers are steel mills, chemical plants and mining machinery outfits) we have tried the electronic lenses, and found them to fragile and expensive for our enviroments, and we and our worker's comp carrier felt the electronic lenses posed a liability problem by allowing that initial arc flash, particularly when doing repetitive tacking on large weldments. In Kentucky, workers have gotten large awards on claims with much less merit.
