Wild Heerbrugg Sercel D13s Distomat Survey Instrument This is a DI-3 S distomat. It uses infra red light waves to measure distances. The smaller piece is the actual distomat. It attaches to a Wild theodolite above the telescope. The larger piece is a computing unit that takes the straight line distance, and converts it to horizontal or vertical distance. The larger unit would be attached to a tripod, the the theodoloite would attach on top of the large unit, then the small unit would attach to the theodolite. It has a male tripod mounting point on the underside a female one on the top, with the boxy orange body of the instrument able to rotate freely around this core, with a knob that can lock it in place. On top of the unit is a numeric keypad and digital LED display. On the front of the unit is a battery indicator gage with test switch, a knob with settings from 1 to 11, an on/off switch, and a switch with three positions marked with triangular icons of unknown meaning. On each side is a round female 10-pin connector and on one side is a three-pin male/female connector. Also included is a Wild D13 S 24414 unit that appears intended to be mounted on some other instrument, with two lenses at one end and two short cables that connect to the two 10-pin connectors. Two cables are included; one with a three-pin male/female connector at one end and two clips at the other and the other with three-pin female/male connectors at each end. A carrying case with sculpted interior is included; one of the latches on the case is broken and there's a crack in one edge but it appears otherwise in good condition. Lacking anything to hook this unit up to or specific knowledge of what it does, this unit has not been tested.
