This set has a measurement range of 0.2cm - 5.1cm . The nine rectangular blocks come in lengths of 0.2cm , 0.3cm , 0.3cm , 0.5cm , 0.6cm , 0.8cm , 1.3cm , 2.5cm , and 5.1cm , and are constructed of high-carbon, high-chrome steel for durability and to minimise length changes. This set also comes with an optical parallel that is 1.3cm thick for measuring flatness and parallelism of the measuring faces of the micrometres being inspected. This set meets the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) B89.1.9 standards for grade AS-1 for dimensions and parallelism. Mitutoyo calibrated tools include a Certificate of Calibration that provides evidence that the tool has been calibrated and is within allowable error specifications. Mitutoyo calibrated tools are certified by Mitutoyo's American Association for Laboratory Accreditation-accredited calibration laboratory (A2LA Certificate #750-01) to the International Organisation for Standardisation/International Electrotechnical Commission (ISO/IEC) 17025 International Standard for testing and calibration laboratories. The set comes in a fitted wooden case. Gauge blocks (also called gauge blocks, Jo blocks, Hoke blocks, and Johansson gauges) are precision ground and lapped metal or ceramic blocks, used for calibrating precision measuring equipment and as a length standard in manufacturing. Gauge blocks are square or rectangular in shape, with flat and parallel measuring surfaces, and usually have an engraved unique serial number and nominal length (provided in either inches or millimetres).
