The Young Men’s Christian Association of Chicago, (Y.M.C.A.) had been meeting regularly in the auditorium of the Farwell building until it was demolished after the fire.  For at least the 19th century the building was occupied by the corporate offices of the Y.M.C.A. along with its college, high school and the famous LaSalle Street health club. More recently, it has served as a professional office building for attorneys, accountants, banking institutions and insurance companies.
