The B&K Tube Tester is a very popular model with tube audiophiles, radio restorers and anyone who works with tubes.  But like with any tube tester, it's hard to know just how accurate it is.  Properly calibrated, it's an accurate tester with automatic compensation for different line voltages, for example. But packing it up and sending it off to get it calibrated can be expensive and take quite a lot of time.  Sure, if you are an electronics expert, you can decipher the manual and do it yourself, be not everyone is an expert or has the parts needed just lying around. Until now.  With this kit, you WILL be able to calibrate your own 747 original model or 747B.  Included are 12 pages of DETAILED instructions that explain EXACTLY what to do. We tell you how to identify the hookup points, how to find the controls to adjust, and even where to put your fingers so that you can do three things at once - look at the meter, push the button on the front panel and adjust a control in the back.  Our 12 page guide has pictures that show you how to do everything.  It is clearly written and clearly shown.  Included with the printed guide are the three resistors that are needed for the calibration - including the very hard to get 100 megohm one for adjusting the amazing 747 grid emissions circuit.   Two of these resistors are hand selected to be within one percent and the 100 megohm is constructed to be within 5%.  That's close!  Also included is our easy to use guide and a pair of clip leads. The only things you need to provide is a Phillips and flat screwdriver and a modern digital multimeter.  You don't need a fancy one. Advantages of Calibrating your B&K 747 yourself: You can do it every few months You can recalibrate after any parts are replaced You don't have to send it off You can confirm that your Shorts and Grid Emissions tests are actually working as designed!  (do you know for sure that yours are?) Lastly, you can save a LOT of money by doing it yourself. And it's easy using our guide and parts. One final point - in order to calibrate ANY Tube Tester, it needs to be working correctly.  If your is not, it will need to be repaired before it can be calibrated successfully.  However, even that can be useful information - for example, if your shorts light will not light, you now know that it needs to be fixed.  Continuing to test without one would damage your tester.
