Offered here is a new 24" x 24" x 1/2" sheet of Zircar RS-1200 Refractory Sheet Board, Item #AS05. Type RS-1200 is a high strength, high temperature composite designed for use as thermo-mechanical and electrical insulation in applications with temperatures as high as 1300°C(2372°F). Made from a combination of strong reinforcing fibers tightly bound in an alumina ceramic matrix, it is easily cut or shaped with ordinary woodworking tools. This sheet is left over from some woodstove insulation experiments I did a few years ago, making replacement liners for cracked and damaged cast iron liners. The results were fantastic. This is superb material for lining fireboxes compared to anything any manufacturer is using. You can read more about it in this thread:  Materials used to line fireboxes - a test | Hearth.com Forums. Current pricing for RS-1200 in 1/2" thickness is over $70 per sq. ft., or $280 for this sheet. I'm offering this one about about half that. It will be well packed in the original shipping box, which I still have.
