This kit requires meticulous attention to detail and close tolerances to construct successfully, and when complete, it should run like the original. When finished, the engine is approximately ten inches high, has a 0.850-inch bore, a 1.312-inch stroke, a flywheel diameter of five inches, and weighs approximately ten pounds. The kit comes with a full set of 11x17 drawings covering both the horizontal and vertical versions, a DVD containing more than 1000 photos of machining set-ups, and is in new, unused, and unmachined condition. Payment is via PayPal only, and shipping is available both domestically and internationally. Should there be any questions about the kit, Littlelocos Model Engineering is ready to provide support both before and after the sale. The Parsell & Weed Hit and Miss Engine Model Casting Kit comes with plans, castings, and sundries including silicon-bronze castings. To machine the castings and other parts made from bronze, brass, steel, and aluminum, a metal lathe and milling machine are required. The result is a working engine that is aesthetically pleasing. The kit is an approximate 1/3-scale replica of the 1/2-Hp Parsell & Weed Engine that was initially offered in kit and completed forms during the early 1900s by Parsell & Weed's Franklin Model Shop in New York City. The horizontal engine kit was first available during the early-mid 1990s, while the vertical version was designed but was never offered publicly. Recently, Littlelocos Model Engineering purchased the original patterns, CAD files, etc., and spent an extensive amount of time refining and redrawing the model engine design while reworking the foundry patterns. The complete kit includes C873 Silicon Bronze castings such as the bedplate, flywheels, cylinder collars, bearing stands, and head. The kit also comes with materials like gear stock for timing gears, intake valve spring, 4130 tube steel for the cylinder, bronze for the connecting rod ends, and music wire for the alternate exhaust valve and governor springs.
