These HP/Agilent 5517B laser heads (transducer) are in very good functional condition with a measured output power after warmup when locked (READY solid) of more than 350-400 µW and REF frequency of around 2.25 MHz. They start reasonably quickly and lock normally with clean REF and MEAS signals, and has been tested fully by Laser Sam of Sam's Laser FAQ in a monitored interferometer setup for at least 8 hours. The photos above are of a typical HP/Agilent laser but the actual ones for sale will be very similar. They are in excellent cosmetic condition, showing at most minor scratches and/or dings on the cover from normal wear. The shutter wheel is missing because it had been removed in the previous applications. But a card with a small hole will serve the same purpose. Standard metal feet will be included upon request free of charge. IMPORTANT: Various adjustments have been made to these lasers to improve performance and bring them back to spec. Thus they are NOT recommended for use in a production environment, though one could certainly serve as an emergency spare to carry over until a new laser arrives. They would be a great laser for research, education, or experimentation. As with all lasers of this type, life expectancy cannot be predicted with certainty. Based on experience, it is likely to be at least six months in 24/7 service, but could be years if turned on only when needed. The Buy-It-Now price is for one (1) laser.
