Affordable Binding Equipment "Quality and Integrity have no fear of time." "Affordable" doesn't mean cheaply made, just quality made simply. This is a set of 2 brass edged press boards that I build (sole proprietor cabinetmaker, 32 years ). These are used to make the hinge groove once the book has been cased-in. The book is placed in-between the 2 boards with the brass located in the groove where the hinge will be (see second pic), placed in the press for pressure to be applied. They are made from 3/4" cabinet grade plywood and covered with white plastic laminate (on the side the book touches), the same that is used for kitchen counter tops. This makes the boards waterproof and easy to clean. It also makes it easy to remove glue from them. The brass is 3/32" thick and protrudes from only on one side of the board. The size of the boards are: 11-1/4" wide and 13-1/8" long (the side the brass is on). These boards will easily do a book that is 12-7/8" tall and are made to fit the book press I build.
