This is a photographic lantern slide, black and white, labeled, "Finishing plate glass windows, Glass Works, Tarentum, Pa." Tarentum is a borough in Allegheny County in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. It is 22 miles northeast of Downtown Pittsburgh, along the Allegheny River. Tarentum was an industrial center where PLATE GLASS and bottles were manufactured; bricks, lumber, steel and iron novelties, steel billets and sheets, sack and wrapping paper were also produced. The Pennsylvania Railroad operated a station in Tarentum; its rail line ran through the town. Lantern slides are one of the best untapped sources of antique photographs there are. Slides were usually discarded after a relatively short period of use so are difficult to find. Slide is 3 1/4" x 4", is in very good condition, and can be viewed by projecting, holding it to the light, or placing it on a light box. This slide can be made into a photograph or poster. If you would like information on having that done AFTER you purchase the view, please let me know. You can learn more about magic lanterns and slides by going to the web site of the Magic Lantern Society of the US and Canada. I offer a reduced postage amount for multiple items IF you email for the cost. Please remember to do this otherwise you will overpay. Thanks for your business, Bob
