The Compact DMR-60PA is a solid-state monaural audio recording and playback device that operates much the same as a tape recorder. Because it is solid state there are no parts to wear out, ensuring year after year of trouble-free service, with no loss in fidelity. The Compact DMR-60PA is capable of recording and storing audio tracks with a duration of up to 60 seconds total. Audio is loaded into the Compact DMR-60PA from a line level audio source (tape deck, walkman, etc.) and converted into a digital format and stored on digital PROM memory chips. (Similar to tape-to-tape recording) Memory is completely non-volatile, ensuring messages are safe even during extended power failures. On playback, audio is converted back into it's original (analog) form. The internal amplifier allows the Compact DMR-60PA to be played back directly into a conventional audio speaker with no need for additional equipment. Playback is initiated using a number of different methods, whether from the front control panel or from a wide variety of external switches (including motion sensors, etc.). With built-in PowerSaver circuitry, power is shut off to the unit between play cycles, allowing the system to be used effectively in solar and battery powered applications where power consumption is critical.
