TEK 2430A is adigital storage oscilloscope from the repairable era (made same time as 2465B, late 80s, early 90s, predates SMT). Cost around $7000 new. Had several units, some sold, so photos may not be of serial # you'll get, but all are in equally very nice shape. At BIN it will be shipped freshly calibrated, with instructions manual on a CD, and power cord, ready to use. Also at BIN, you get some refurb/renewal, namely the lithium battery backed NVRAM. (offering less than BIN, will delete my value adding services such as fresh nvram & fresh cal). Before digital storage scopes evolved into small lunchbox sized surface mount populated fluff boxes in the late 90s, there were digitizing scopes such as the Tektronix 2440 that actually contained normal size parts that can be worked on with human sized fingers. So unlike with newer DSOs, this item does not become e-waste first time it breaks. I expect today's DSOs to last about as long as a cellphone. While today's DSOs are smaller, can usually sample faster, and have USB communication (which is more convenient than GPIB), the newer construction quality, durability, impossibility of repair, spells short life expectancy. Don't expect any DSO made today (regardless of price) to last 25+ years as 2430As have proved capable of. Tek labels the 2430A as 150MHz / 100 Megasamples/second. Just as analog scopes should not be used close to their upper bandwidth limit, digitizing scopes carry the same caveat, even more so... It is best recommended for use at under 50MHz. Like all Tek 24__ digitizing scopes, this is a fulltime digitizing scope, meaning there is no fallback analog mode as in some combiscopes. Whereas a non-storage scope can only display what happens after triggering, a digital storage scope can also display what happens before triggering, and this is its main advantage it's like a time machine. You can think of it as an endless loop recorder (like a cockpit voice recorder of an airplane) and you can look back any part of the loop you haven't yet re-recorded over. The length of the loop is 1024 recording points. A point can be as long as 50mS at the slowest sweep speed, or as short as 10nS at the faster sweep speeds. The vertical scale (8cm on screen, some more offscreen) can similarly be thought of having 256 points. Ask questions (in English or French). It's a good way to discuss your exact needs, match you with correct package, options, accessories... even before you buy.... The major advantage of BINing from me is that the Li battery/NVRAM will have been replaced, whereas on the vast majority of others' it's way past due for changing (and unlike most batteries, instead of usual 2 terminals, more often than not, there are 56 soldered pins in the form of two 28 pin ICs). I cannot offer you this service at less than BIN (it takes time, patience, skill, and the NVRAMs cost about $50. I ship worldwide. Paypal requires I ship only to your Paypal address with tracking and delivery confirmation, which International Airmail lacks, which is why it is not an option if you buy on eBay pay with Paypal. I also have 1 of these with TV Sync Option 5 if you need that option. Please be prepared to offer $100 more for this option, if you want it (yes, ebay lets you offer more than BIN). If you need probes, this scope can use almost any common scope probes such as P6101, P6105, P6106,... I can offer new/unused Tek P6063B 200Mhz switchable (meaning both 1:1 & 10:1; with readout encoding) for $100/ea (they retailed at $400/ea new from Tek; seen in last photo), and yes, again, you can make offer for more than BIN. Lastly, I can refurb and guaranty scope for 1 YEAR (no one else offers this long) for $200 more, if you want. For some of you far away, the expense of roundtrips to secure service may not be practical, so I leave it up to you.
