You are bidding on a tested and working General Radio 1192 DC to 30MHz frequency counter with Nixie display. General Radio is well known for having produced some of the best electronic test equipment ever made, dating back to the dawn of radio in the 1920's.   This auction is for a model 1192 frequency counter, dating to the 1960's.  The model 1192 is capable of measuring the frequency of a varying electrical signal from 0 (DC) to 30 megahertz.  It can also make other measurements such as the period of a sine or square wave.  It incorporates an internal 100KHz crystal oscillator for calibration and self-testing (see photo 1).  A wide range of adjustments for sampling period, display hold time, and triggering are available on the front panel (photo 2).  The display uses Nixie tubes, a nice vintage touch.  The power supply can operate on any AC voltage from 100 to 250 volts and from 50Hz to 400Hz, so useable anywhere in the world.  This particular 1192 also has the data output option so digital readouts can be sent to other equipment (photo 3).  The circuitry is typical late sixties IC's with a very high build quality. This particular 1192 is serial number 00275.   I tested this instrument using my B&K frequency generator.  I obtained accurate readings that tracked my B&K's built-in frequency readout all the way from a few Hertz up to the rated maximum of 30MHZ. This 1192 comes with a power cord, but no probe.  Input on the front panel is a standard BNC connector, so you can use virtually any scope probe with a BNC connector or even just a cable with a BNC connector on one end and clips on the other.  The 1192 has switchable attenuation (see photo 2) so you really don't need a fancy probe.  A genuine original GR manual including unbelievably thorough schematics, instructions for use, and servicing information is also included. I have several of these counters in my vintage electronics shop.  They are easy to use and plenty accurate for vintage radio, TV, or other electronic servicing.  The Nixie displays are really nice too:  The digits are brighter and larger than the LED and LCD displays typically used in newer instruments.  If you don't need to go over 30MHz, these instruments are better than anything being made in China today. I have been collecting and restoring antique radios and TV's for more than 30 years.  Please watch my future auctions for more vintage electronics items.
