Hickok 539 A - Tube Tester Mutual Trans-conductance Tester with Plate Current measuring facility Top Metal Plate is in excellent condition. See Photos for the condition of the unit Self Bias or adjustable bias Very good alternative to the expensive Hickok 539B and 539C.  Multiple signal levels with various Micromho ranges makes this tester on par with 539 B or C The tester original box had no cover and was not in good shape, so i replaced my it with my Hickok 533A box. The replaced Box is in decent shape for a 50 year old tester ( except the back plate which can be easily patched using a Tolex sheet if the buyer wishes). Please see the photos to make your own assessment. The micromoho range switch wiring was dislocated by the original seller who sold this to me. I had to buy another 539A to correct the wiring and correct some of the components including new Bias adjustment power resistor. I also replaced Meter bridge, signal range resistors. Conducted the meter range calibration. Using standard already calibrated 6L6 for checking the correctness. Also I added special 100 Nano Farad Cap for reducing oscillation problems ( on high current power tubes like 6L6) normally found on such old Hickok testers based on Antique Radios forum postings.  The tester has three pronged power connector with earth connected to body for safety. However it is advisable to wear safety gloves while testing metal tubes as these testers are 50 plus years old and leakage can be present in some circumstances. Ask questions before bidding -  International shipping charge shown is not accurate. So please contact for actual shipping charges Since I travel for my work , the item may not ship immediately but may take the week end to pack and arrange shipping after the end of auction This auction includes the original 539 A manual shown in the photos Note: The tester currently has Type 83 rectifier tube and hence the transformer (which is a weak point in Hickok testers) load causes the fuse lamp to glow with power tube as the original Hickok Transformers ageing causes larger primary current in normal testing unlike brand new Hickok testers. The transformer primary  load current can be reduced by switching this 83 Tube rectifier to Solid State replacement without affecting the performance. However the tester needs re-calibration after SS replacement is done. If the winning bidder wishes, i can do that switch and re calibration for the cost of parts alone (expected around 25$). This request can be done in a week and shipping delay is expected with such a request. Please contact me for further details.

Seller Notes Top Plate is in great condition, Box from my better 533A and smooth Scroll- calibrated using Daniel Schoo's 539C calibration based Signal level, Plate voltage, Screen voltage, Bias&meter bridge balance tested- calibration service alone justify the BIN-it is steal.
