This is not a stereo microscope....check out the schematic image carefully. The M420 was introduced as a photomacrography instrument with the convenience of binocular (non-stereo) viewing. You can use any of the Wild Leitz 30mm oculars for the stereo microscope. This one includes the Wild M10x paired. This is a single optical channel compound photomicroscope and includes the 1:5 achromatic zoom lens with iiris as well as the special 0.5X lens....working distance is 102mm and 188mm respectively. I just saw an M420 for sale and the seller had this lens connected to the camera and aimed at the ceiling. Shows you the knowledge of most folks who sell microscopes on this site.....very little. I am an expert in these vintage Wild and Leitz instruments. Instruction book included. This one includes the darkslide to cut off the oculars while taking a photo. The light split is 50/50. This is a ca. 1989 version that had a list price of about $7900.00 Typical systems later sold for over $10K. I have added a nice USA-made (Diagnostic Instrument) tilting mirror base for transmission. I will leave it up to you for the light sources since you may want to be creative with that. The CMTB base includes the usual tilting mirror for oblique, quasi-darkfield methods. I will also include a true darkfield insert cone that is great for insect photomicroscopy/photomacrography. A 66mm ringlight mount is included so you can add a fiber optic ringlight or LED ringlight......or use a Canon or Nikon twin-head macro flash attachment. The filter holder accepts 32mm diameter filters and I will include a blue, frosted, gree, red, orange and neurtral density 50%. Finally, you can add your own DSLR or MILC as well as appropriate M42 T-mount to this USA-made Diagnostic Instrument tube with Nikon PL 2.5x CF photo eyepiece included. So, add a camera, lighting and you are set to take some fantastic photos of your favorite subjects. Easily adapted for polarized liight with your own polarizer, analyser and first order red plate. Add a mechanical stage if needed. This one was the pioneer in its early days.......after 25 years all of the major microscope makers (NOZL) offer their own photomacroscope.
