Note to ebay: This is not a hazardous material. These are pebbles, small rocks, not unlike those pesky ones that get stuck in your shoe and bug you for like five hours until you finally give in and go through the ordeal of removing it. This item is shipped in compliance with USPS Publication 52, and is a natural mineral specimen, as it is clearly defined in 49 CFR 173.426. EVERYTHING is radioactive... I prefer to quantify the level and let the customer decide. THE ITEM: That's nearly the last of the microcrystalline pitchblende, mand the last of the spectacularly colored uraninite. The pitch is 55,000CPM and the uraninite 38,000CPM ON A PANCAKE PROBE. Odd. I have never sold rock lots. These two items were just so popular, and customers came up with brilliant inclusions in to their displays; that I figure hey, why not? The alpha; which is the vast majority of radiation coming from uranium, is self-shielded because only the radiation from the very surface is measurable. Chunks and pebbles have a higher count rate because more of the surface area is exposed and detectable. Alpha and low energy beta make this unsuitable for staring at while holding it 4 inches from your eyes. Alpha particles can't go more than several inches, so even keeping it one foot out makes all the difference. International customers are responsible for determining and paying import fees; I do not know anything about which countries charge what. It's not ok to tell me that your country prohibits importation when it really does. Items will not be undervalued or declared as gifts. Be good to each other. If I make a mistake, I will make it right. Please take time to know and understand your equipment before using this item as a means of testing. Thanks, and please feel free to ask any questions! Enjoy!
