This is a calibrated 14C Ludlum Geiger counter, (with calibration performed by Eberline) and rate meter with an internal high energy gamma probe plus an external 44-7 alpha/beta/gamma probe. This is ready for use in hospitals, power plants, mines, all of the most critical applications. Not to mention rock and mineral collecting. The Ludlum C connector cable is also included. The probe clip on the unit is specific to the 44-7 probe, so it holds the probe sturdily. It works with scintillation, GM, and proportional probes. It is very accurate, stable, and works like it did the day it came out of the factory. There are scratches in the powder coat paint on the casing; no fading though. There is sticker residue from the various calibration certs over the years. There's a volatile solvent called "goof off" which will help remove the sticker residue, along with the lining of your respiratory tract, so do that outside! The top/face plate where the controls are is completely flawless. There are two units available. The one pictured is sold. The casings are straight, they have minor scratches and lots of sticker residue, but all the face sides where the controls are have no flaws whatsoever. There is no rust or corrosion. The internal probe is for high rate/dose gamma detection. It can be used like a survey meter in that regard, and doesn't require an external probe to be used as a high range dosimeter on the 1000x setting. It's hard to imagine that anybody would regret buying this meter. Side by side with the Ludlum 3, it's the same size, same speaker, same everything. But, it also has the internal probe and 1000x setting as well. It's a no brainier. This is like a Ludlum 3 plus an internal probe and an x1000 function. Same size, too. Low and high voltage circuits are perfectly stable. The transformers are strong and don't make noise even at full load and on the highest setting. It performed perfectly on the pulse generator. It was tested for linearity and was within factory specs on the 44-7 with Cs137. All test point voltages were stable. There was no need to turn any of the calibration pots, they were already spot on. Feel free to ask any questions. A small and lovely natural mineral specimen will be included as a bonus. Insurance makes it easier for both of us, and in order to qualify, it demands that I wrap the item in a manner dictated by the insurance company.
