This listing is for a quantity of two each per sale!!! You get TWO 22X4mm LYSO Crystals with all sides Polished and ready to use. Many may come with some PTFE reflective tape already wrapped around the long sides that can easily be removed if desired.  LYSO is a Premium Scintillator Material with very good energy resolution and guaranteed to work for radiation detection when coupled to a PMT and built into a probe. LYSO is denser than BGO or GSO with a specific density of 7.3 g/m3 that provides excellent stopping power for high energy photons. Much greater density than that of NaI(Tl) and is non-hygroscopic and non-toxic. LYSO is very durable and does not break easily. LYSO contains Lutetium that is slightly radio active itself, so you have a very specific background in this material. When measuring low energy samples, this background can be subtracted, but is not always necessary. The demonstration pictures show peaks of several common energy sources without the background removed. The PMT used for the pictures is a Hamamatsu R9420 (available in another of my listings) using just a single crystal coupled with silicone to the center of the face and then wrapped with PTFE and black tape. Just a single crystal can be used to make a decent detector capable of gamma spectrometry at an unbelievable price. The Multichannel Analyzer (MCA) software used is Theremino, and is generously provided free of cost by the good folks at Theremino.com. This would be a FANTASTIC price for only a single crystal, but you get a pair of crystals (2) for the price of this listing. Even Better... buy 4 pairs and I will throw in a 5th pair for no additional charge (that's 10 crystals for the price of 4 pairs). No additional shipping cost on multiple purchases of this item when crystals are purchased at the same time. Dimensions each crystal: Length = 22mm Sides = 4mm Weight = 2.57gm From the manufacture: LYSO crystal is an ideal generation scintillator crystal. LYSO (Cerium-doped Lutetium Yttrium Orthosilicate). LYSO crystal has the advantages of high light output and density, quick decay time, excellent energy resolution and low cost. These properties make LYSO an ideal candidate for a range of ray detection applications in nuclear physics and nuclear medicine, which require higher, improved timing resolution and superior energy revolution.   Physical Properties Of LYSO Density (g/cm3) 7.4 Effective Atomic Number 66 Radiation Length (cm) 1.10 Decay Constant (ns) 40-44 Peak Emission (nm) 428 Light Yield (Relative BGO=100%) 190 Index of Refraction 1.82 Peak excitation (nm) 375 Radiation Hardness (rad) >106 Melting Point (°C) 2050 Hardness (Mohs) 5.8 Cleavage None Hygroscopicity No Interested in a large array of pixels? For quantities larger than 10 pairs, please send a message to seller. Thank You! Attention school teachers and students. These are excellent for science and physics projects, experiments and term or research papers. Scintillator detectors are fun and easy to build for all age groups from high school through college and university. Great experience and fun for the electronic hobbyist as well.  I SHIP VERY FAST, USUALY BY THE NEXT DAY (Priority Mail is optional). I only ship to address on PayPal account. This listing is only for 2 crystals, no other items shown are included in the sale.
