Offered for sale is a used, but not abused. Starrett #183 protractor that came from the estate of a retired aircraft machinist. Still very serviceable.
Used by engineers, architects or machinists, this protractor is an exquisite example of American precision tool-making. Bearing an 1890 patent, this protractor wears the stamp of Brown & Sharpe Mfg., one of America's finest toolmakers. The blade of the protractor is 8.5", overall it is 10' wide x 6".
This auction is for a Brown & Sharpe Draftsman's Protractor- Pat. Dec 2, 1890 engraved on the front. This is the information I have been able to find on it. This one in my photo is almost identical to the one in the Smithsonian, National Museum of American History, except it has 11 holes on the top.
