Really fast checkout Melles Griot Locking Kinematic Optical Base Melles Griot Kinematic base Kinematic bases allow you to mount, remove, and replace optical components with very high repeatability. Three polished steel balls in the bottom plate register with a hardened cone, groove, and flat in the top plate so the two plates relocate precisely every time. These bases are especially time-saving in setups where optical elements must frequently be interchanged, or when reference elements must occasionally be inserted in an optical path. This base is 7 cm X 7 cm square and about 2 cm high. Kinematic Bases significantly reduce positioning errors with two secure novel lock-down points on either side. The top plate is removed with a few turns of the two thumb screws located conveniently located on either side. Condition: Please check the enlarged photos. I think the photos demonstrate the stage is in very good condition. There is no damage, old inventory labels, adhesive residue, or names/numbers carved into the unit. The three alignment balls are in good condition with no dents or damage. The two locking screws operate smoothly. Once the two screws are tight, the top plate is securely fastened to the bottom plate. I have two of these bases. Both are in the same great condition.
