MILES (NOW SAKURA) MODEL 4553 CRYOSTAT - FULLY RECONDITIONED. This cryostat is in optimum condition. It works as well as it looks and is now ready to bring into your lab and put it to good use. This workhorse of a cryostat cools down to minus 24 degrees Celsius in less than two hours. In the meantime, even at this lowest temperature, the glass window maintains a cozy 32 degrees Celsius operating temperature, so there is not so much as a hint of condensation to impede your vision. Our Biomedical Engineering Department opened it up, cleaned it thoroghly, replaced a couple of minor parts, reassembled, tested and calibrated it. The microtome was lubricated and it turns smooth as silk even at minus 30. It is now in tip top, ready to go, 100% fully operational condition. We have two identical units. Both have disposable blade holders for low profile disposable blades. However, if you prefer to use reusable blades, we also have a replacement microtome with a reusable blade holder.
