The Murphy Compensation Cup performs all compensation calculations for you so you can take accurate hydrometer readings in a snap. The dial on the Murphy Cup will indicate exactly where your hydrometer should be floating based on your syrup sample’s current temperature. Simply compare the reading on the dial to the reading on your hydrometer to quickly and easily determine the density status of your syrup. NO MORE CONFUSING COMPENSATION CHARTS! The Murphy Cup is doing the job of 3 tools: A test cup, a thermometer and a compensation chart. Before the Murphy Cup, you would have to use a thermometer to test the temperature of your sample. Then you would use a compensation chart to figure out where the hydrometer should be floating at that particular temperature. Now, the Murphy Cup does all that calculating for you. The dial on the cup is telling you where your hydrometer should be floating if it is perfect density (66.9? BRIX) based on your syrup’s current temperature.
