We based our design on our highly successful Orion I to III, using a more quiet preamp and transimpedance circuitry, a 30% more powerful HV power supply using the latest technologies, added in a 1500V backlit voltmeter that can also be used to measure external devices, and new capability to accept two-wires type probes, all in a lightweight and sleek package. Orion IIIA PRO is so easy to use, you will obtain your first professional gamma spectrum fast and hassle free, typically within the very first hour you opened the box. Orion IIIA PRO lets you take advantage of the powerful yet user friendly Theremino & PRA MCA software, while overcoming the key hardware limitation of Theremino PMT adapter or other amateur grade gamma spectrometer system - the weak power supply that only works using scintillation probe with a voltage divider resistance of 100M or above. With such excessive voltage divider resistance, the current leakage between the photomultiplier terminals leads to the interstage voltage variation and an unstable spectrum that changes with time. Furthermore, not every scintillation probe has voltage divider circuit that is amenable to aftermarket modification, so users of such underpowered amateur systems are quite limited in their selection of usable probes. Orion IIIA PRO gives you the freedom, to use any positive polarity scintillation probe with BNC connectors and probe resistance down to 7M. You can vary the probe voltage precisely between 0 to +1100VDC via a 25 turns potentiometer. Take your gamma spectroscopy measurement anywhere with your laptop, tablet or desktop computer!
