Here is my NEMA 10-50P to 6-50R plug adaptor. It allows you to move the oven and plug in a welding machine or plasma cutter. The cord is about 6 feet long, the lines are both 6ga and the ground is 8ga, that makes it a "6/2 + 8ga" cord. Made with a new cord, new surge protector components and a new receptacle. This is a heavy duty cord, feel free to run more than one machine off it. Pictures: The first or main picture is not of the actual item you are bidding on, its just a real good clear example of what the plug and receptacle looks like. Pictures 2 and 3 are the type of plug and receptacle you are buying, but the actual item you are bidding on uses an absolulty brand new sealed plug set. (the one pictured is used) Pictures 4 and 5 are of 6-50 plug with its cover removed, you can see a little of the MOVs wired line to neutral, its the blue round component under the gray wires. The metal housing to the plug is ground. It is only intended for indoor use in dry locations. Do not use NEMA 6-50 series on machines that use line to neutral/ground power for lights or fans. Do not use this adaptor on anyting that uses line to neutral power like clothes dryer or electric range. Any machine like a welder or plasma cutter that came with a NEMA 6-50 cord from the factory does not use line to neutral power unless there is a short cirucit or falut with the machine. Surge protection: Transformer based welding machines are very rugged and not much kills them, power surges really don't effect them. They could be struck by lightning and still work fine, but turning on the welding machine and starting and breaking electrical arc creates power surges that effect everything else plugged into your home. Since the welding machine runs line to line power it is effectively on the same circuit as everything in your house. Also if you have a more expensive solid state inverter type welding machine or plasma cutter, they don't create power surges as bad but they are susceptible to being damaged by a power surge. My line of welding surge protector cords can help protect the expensive control boards and solid state power switching devices found in more advanced machines or protect other devices in your home. I installed this exact same power surge protection set up in side of all my machines, so I know it works. Now I offer a cord version of it. Bonus protection: As long as you leave this cord plugged in and the breaker feeding it turned on it will provide some degree of whole home surge protection. Do not use 277 volt line to neutral power. Most modern machines can run 277 volt power but these MOVs I use are rated at the lowes possible voltage to provide the max level of surge protection for residential power systems running up to 250 volts. You get 277 volts when you run something line to neutral on a 480 volt 3 phase 4 wire wye configuration. Your house does not run off 3 phase 480 volt power. You only find 3 phase power on farms and industrial, commercial sites running machinery and lights. The metal backing to the plug housing is ground. The 6-50 ground is ran on the 10-30 cords neutral/ground. It is only intended for indoor use in dry locations. Do not use NEMA 6-50 series on machines that use line to neutral/ground power for lights or fans. Do not use this adaptor on anyting that uses line to neutral power like clothes dryer or electric range. Any machine like a welder or plasma cutter that came with a NEMA 6-50 cord from the factory does not use line to neutral power line to ground power unless there is a short cirucit or falut with the machine. The metal oxide varistors are wired from both lines to neutral. Always cut power to the circuit and verify (by trying to turn the machine on) that power is actually off before plugging in or unplugging any 250 volt connection. Use "buy it now", complete checkout and pay for your item before noon MST your purchase will go out on the same day. If not, it will go out the next day the post office is open. Need a custom adaptor? Message me for a quote. I plugged this adaptor into my 10-50 receptacle in my garage then powered my clothes dryer through this adaptor with yet another adaptor and dried a few loads of clothes, drawing 25 amps for most of the time the drier is running. Then ran both the clothes dryer and air compressor off it for a grand total of 35 amps. Cord set and metal handy box showed no signs of warming up. You should never power a clothes dryer or range with a NEMA 6-50 cord. Free shipping to US only. Shipping to canada will be an additional $30 to $40.
